Established on June 25, 1922, Azevedo & Travassos is presently one of the most traditional engineering companies in Brazil.

In the 1950’s two significant changes occurred in the organizational structure. First, the company was changed into a Limited Partnership and subsequently, into a Corporation under the name Azevedo & Travassos S.A. – Engenharia, Construções e Comércio.

In 1964 a new technical team took control of the company, lead by engineer Bernardino Pimentel Mendes thus, adding new technology and productive equipment to the previous structure.

In 1984, it became an open capital company with shares being negotiated in the Stock Market Exchange.

The 1980’s was also marked by the consolidation of oil and gas pipeline assembly activities when those services were contracted by PETROBRAS and COMGÁS. During this period, oil extraction and research activities were initiated in the area of risc contracts with the establishment of Azevedo & Travassos Petróleo S.A., currently Kock Petróleo do Brasil Ltda.

Since 1996 all the jobs have been done by the affiliate Azevedo & Travassos Engenharia Ltda.

In 1998, Azevedo & Travassos redefined its activity focus as a contractor by concentrating the work in 3 Divisions:

In 2000, it was qualified by Agência Nacional de Petróleo - ANP as operator of onshore  blocks for exploration and production concession contracts.
